Kenneth Cole is Taunting Me

I have been flipping through magazines between study sessions this past week as a way to relax my brain. After all, one can only do so many sentence correction questions in a row. In browsing through pages of beautiful clothes and people, I paused on one of the new Kenneth Cole advertisements and immediately wanted to know more about the dress.

I think the dress would flatter my body shape, and even though my skin tone is no where near the tone of the model, I think the colors would still work for me. Given that the ad campaign refers to the internet and virtual states, I figured I could find out more on their website. For the next 25 minutes I became increasingly frustrated as I could not find the piece anywhere beyond the section showing the campaign. Why feature clothing that cannot be purchased?? It isn't as if this is a couture gown. It looks like something that is intended for the masses. Is it too much to ask for to know the price of dress that is probably out of my budget?

If anyone can find out more information about this dress and is willing, that would be amazing as googling "kenneth cole beige brown teal dress" came up with nothing useful.

Contest Time

I have ignored highheelsshortskirt.blogspot.com for too long and I apologize. The main reason was that I was preparing, cooking and then enjoying jello shots that were made for a friends wedding party. I call it a wedding party as they got married at City Hall on Friday at 11:15 am (they got a $40 discount for being on time) and we had party subs, cheesecake and beer on Saturday afternoon/evening to celebrate. I brought 49 jello shots per the request of the lovely bride. One of the types is a margarita jello shot that I attempted for the first time and was quite a success.

This new shot inspired a fantastic idea. That I create a new blog, in addition this one of course, that is devoted to my jello shot skills. I have been trying to think of a great name for such a blog and have been opening up to my friends via twitter, gchat, kickball aftergame parties and now my blog. If any one has any suggestions for a catchy url (_____.blogspot.com) or blog title, please let me know. Currently the only thing that has been even reasonably interesting was "Lots Lots of Jello Shots", and really, who wants to read that blog. :P

Thanks!

Stress Hurts

Friday I was out for the count and couldn't make it into work. Not due to a hangover, but due to the worst neck/back spasms I have ever experienced. I don't know what happened. It wasn't like I over exerted myself doing anything physical that afternoon. All I know is one minute I was fine and then BAM around 3 pm my neck started to tense up enough that turning my head was a bit painful.

I started taking Ibuprofen by the handful, which definitely helped me. Thankfully we had a three day weekend. By Monday things were looking up. I thought today would be easy. I think I figured out where the problem is stemming from, one word - STRESS. About halfway through the day I realized that the day was not going smoothly and my week would not be as simple. (and by simple I do not mean easy, but merely that I knew what I was in store for and had some chance to finally catch up from my vacation) Around 3 pm, I was tensing up and raiding the communal pain killers.

I am looking into ways to find my center at work. I think one of my superiors saw how things are begining to get to me as he told me to not worry about things and asked me to not get stressed. I appreciated the request, but there is no way I can let go of my concerns at this point in time. My plan was to start yoga again in the mornings by next week. I hope I can make it...

Didn't mean to be a bit of a downer, but if you know any relaxation tips I'd be more than interested in hearing about them.

is this fun or crazy?

Style is personal, and I don't know if I could truly sum up the theme of my wardrobe quick and easy-like, maybe funky or eclectic (that is sort of a cop out word....). One statement for sure is that about 50% of it came from Urban Outfitters. Those stores suck me in whenever I walk by, and their almost daily emails keep me wanting more.

This brings us to today's fashion quandary. Pant Jumpsuit: yes or no?

I have to be completely honest I am completely drawn to them and then slightly appalled about this very feeling all at the same time.

This first one, is interesting. It has pockets. Overall, I think it looks pretty comfy. I actually like how it is a skinnier pant leg. The one thing I am not too thrilled with is the colors. The green and black just isn't really calling to me. So maybe, I need to keep looking.

Now this second look, is a jumpsuit that can just be a pair of pants if you so desire. This concept just seems something that would be very much "me" as it is not uncommon for me to wear one of my hippie skirts as a dress in the summer. I like most of the details to this piece. Problem this time, is that I kind of feel like the pants are a bit too baggy in the crotch area and it might look like one just had an accident if you know what I mean. This one makes me feel like we are getting closer.

I guess there is no reason why I should feel that I need to stick with the pant jumpsuits. I mean, they are more interesting to me. But they may cause more problems given my proportions. I tried on a jumpsuit a few months ago and while it was long enough, the waist simply was just no where near where mine was. It just made me look so frumpy and awkward.

Solution to the poorly placed waistline? Short jumpsuit! Ok, so this is adorable. I don't like wearing shorts (they have always looked too short on me due to the crazy legs I have and well that just makes me feel awkward) but I would totally go for this one. PLUS there are POCKETS. So awesome.

In fact, I just saw a dress at the GAP (I am just as surprised as you are that I found something I liked there - almost as weird as that time I bought clothing a JCrew) that looked very similar to this little number. Slightly torn about which one to consider adding to my wardrobe. But, I guess I need to be realistic...neither would be work appropriate and I really need to focus about wearing appropriate clothing to the office...

Now I have written a bunch and not really said anything. I still am unsure if this look is for me. Maybe I just need to take a deep breath and try one on. I just hope that I get enough courage to do so before the trend passes. By the time I was ready to try high-waisted pants (this was purely to make my friend laugh, there is no way I ever thought that looked flattering) they were no where to be found!

Until tomorrow...

I am addicted

To buying books.

I am not allowed to purchase any more books for the next month. As a MINIMUM. In the last 6 days, SIX DAYS, I have purchased 6 books - three of them were bought today via amazon so they aren't technically here yet... But really, I already have like 10 books that I have not yet read on my book shelves and now I am adding another six PLUS I already have a mandatory book each month for book club. I don't know how I expect to get through all of these!

At least I purchase a wide range of books, I have purchased some chick lit, Twilight, math/science themed stuff, non-fiction, classical works, collections of short stories and modern novels over the last few months. I mean at least I can always find something in my room to read. I wish I would just remember that when I consider whether or not I need another volume for my shelves.

I was thinking that they may come in handy with all my upcoming trips, but two of my flights are red eyes... no reading then. But I will be able to read by the pool. Can't wait for my trips out west!

So, yeah, I figured the first step is admitting you have a problem. Well I do. I seem to think I have more time to read than I really do. If you see me in a book store, please, push me out!
