Don't eat gummy fried eggs

This afternoon I went with a friend to Sugar Heaven on Boylston St. Oh man. How have I not been there before??? I am not the biggest chocolate fiend, but I love gummy candy like no other. Specifically I have a special place in my heart for green frogs.

The shop has two walls of candy that you can buy by the pound. It is a little more pricey than other candy places I have frequented in the past, but considering the shop is in the city, I get it. One particular perk is that the employees let you taste the different candies! Most of the candies we tried were very tasty, the one that I would urge you to stay away from is the fried egg gummy.
The girl told me it was like circus peanuts, which made me a little concerned. First, I sniffed the candy and detected that buttery scent...eeep. Then as soon as I popped it in my mouth I was disgusted. It was a painful chew. The two employees felt bad for me so they gave me a fancy peach candy to cleanse my pallet.

In the end I walked away with a great bad full of green frogs, grapefruits, peaches, clown fish, raspberries and peachy penguins (yes they are as adorable as they sound). I think a night of leftovers, gummies and movies are in my near future.

iGoogle + DIY vodka

Lately I have been using my igoogle homepage on a more daily basis. I been redesigning what I want on it and where the different applications sit. Of course, the Daily Puppy has remained up at the top, it provides some major happiness. For news, I have the weather channel (here and RI) Top Stories, CNN, and the Huffington Post. Then for entertainment I have gmail, google reader, horoscopes, and trivia. The last add-in was one that I thought might be a nice in-between, both informative and amusing. That would be the Daily To-Do.

One of the more recent tips was "How to Make Skittles Vodka". The title intrigued me. I mean, what is Skittles Vodka, so I clicked. It is exactly what it sounds like. Vodka that has had Skittles soaking in it to create sweet flavors. For about 30 seconds I thought it sounded awful. Then I thought that I would totally drink an alcohol that tastes like green or pink Skittles.I'm thinking I just need to go out to purchase some small cheap bottles (Christmas Tree Shop adventure?) and then the fun begins. BUT this project will have to wait until the spring. There is too much going on right now (re: studying for standardized tests and applying to school) that fun with vodka is something that will just have to be placed on the back burner.

What's worse than not landing the perfect job?

Getting a bad batch of peach rings from the local convenience store afterward!

Today, I got a call letting me know that I didn't get a dream job while I was home sick. Bad enough, right? I then did what any normal, sane person would do, and that would be to skip my healing naps for some intense job searching. After sending out some more resumes and amazing cover letters I decided that I needed something to pep me up.

Healthy foods do not work well for pity parties. Gummy candy, however, is a miracle worker. I walked over to the local corner store to get some chips and gummy candy. Found some peach rings (which are second only to green frogs) and thought all would be well. When I got home and opened the bag, it was failure. Never in my life have I ever been so disappointed about a piece of candy. The bag even says "gourmet". Sigh.

Gummies

I had lunch with a lovely individual today and after leaving Bertucci's we stopped off at the candy place next door. Of course I gave in and got some gummies, I couldn't help myself. But it brought back memories of getting penny candy at Papa's down on Boon St. Those were the days. In today's bag we had the following...

Peach rings. VERY tasty

Green frogs. While I actually prefer the blue sharks, the green frogs are fine substitute.

The ever classic sour watermelons. I find that while they are small, you still don't want to have too many in the bag. It will throw off the balance.

Finally, I chose to throw caution to the wind and go for the sour grapefruit. Such a pleasant surprise! Considering the fact that I have never eaten a real grapefruit, the flavor is one of my favorites. If you've never tried them, you should get the Vitamin C Halls Defense lozenges. Citrus flavored! AMAZING :)
