iGoogle + DIY vodka

Lately I have been using my igoogle homepage on a more daily basis. I been redesigning what I want on it and where the different applications sit. Of course, the Daily Puppy has remained up at the top, it provides some major happiness. For news, I have the weather channel (here and RI) Top Stories, CNN, and the Huffington Post. Then for entertainment I have gmail, google reader, horoscopes, and trivia. The last add-in was one that I thought might be a nice in-between, both informative and amusing. That would be the Daily To-Do.

One of the more recent tips was "How to Make Skittles Vodka". The title intrigued me. I mean, what is Skittles Vodka, so I clicked. It is exactly what it sounds like. Vodka that has had Skittles soaking in it to create sweet flavors. For about 30 seconds I thought it sounded awful. Then I thought that I would totally drink an alcohol that tastes like green or pink Skittles.I'm thinking I just need to go out to purchase some small cheap bottles (Christmas Tree Shop adventure?) and then the fun begins. BUT this project will have to wait until the spring. There is too much going on right now (re: studying for standardized tests and applying to school) that fun with vodka is something that will just have to be placed on the back burner.

Chelsea would be proud

I bought $1 martini glasses at the Christmas Tree Shop. Totally love them. All this week I have been making Boston Absolut martinis. (Boston Absolut, splash of ginger ale, and lemon juice) They have been a lovely way to end the evening. It is hard to explain but I get this great feeling drinking out of a classy glass rather than a pint glass. Totally helps mellow me out. So while I was drinking my nightcap, I found the following:

Love this woman. I saw this quote and needed to know more about her. A quick google brought me to here wikipedia article. She is known for her wit and wisecracks. Awesome. If anyone has any of hers I can read, please give it to me. A woman who has a love for martinis like I do is a great woman in my book.

Countdown to April 10th

Why?

That would be the night that I, and four friends, will be seeing the one and only Chelsea Handler. We all love her show (Chelsea Lately) and her books. The woman is just so hysterical. It is really hard to find female comedians that are consistently good. I just feel like Chelsea has the same thoughts that we do. She is very open with her audience and let's in on her bladder problems - specifically that she has occasionally peed herself from laughing too much.

Sadly, I have only read My Horizontal Life which was beyond funny. The book is a collection of short stories of her one-night stands. It is a great book to have to read while commuting because once you are done with a chapter you can easily put it down without feeling like you have to keep reading. Seriously, it is worth the read. I have not had the chance to read Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea yet, but I have every intention of picking up a copy as soon as I am able.

To show our respects, the five of us plan to drink some Belvedere (as Chelsea recently switched alliances from Grey Goose to Belvedere - apparently Grey Goose has extra sugars) before attending the show. Also, we found it rather appropriate that Ms. Handler will be preforming at the Wang - we hope she can use that in her routine.

Normally I am not a pill kind of girl

I need to meet this Russian professor. He created a the VODKA pill. Seriously. He figured out how to turn alcohols into a powder and then packs the powder into pill form.

How did I find out about this? My friend saw the article and informed me that he just knew this was something I had to be aware of. I was rather excited, but then slightly concerned that when my friends see new ways to imbibe alcohol or anything to do with vodka, they think to tell me about it. Oh well. I enjoy being in the know.

The vodka pill sounded really neat when I first read the headline, but then I thought about it. It isn't like you take the pill and then dissolve it in water to create a drink. Cheap alcohol tastes bad, but good alcohol is well for lack of a better word, FANTASTIC. You so thought I was going to say good. Oooo. This makes me think, if you took a vodka pill with a cranberry pill would it feel like a Cape Codder?
