Words to Live by

Since no one sees the tags, who cares where it's from
- Big girl in a skinny world, Marie Clare

This one sentence reminds me that the easiest way to participate in a trend is to go for imitation. As long as the clothes appear nice, who cares what they are necessarily made of or by. After all, most trends only last a season, so why not go for the budget friendly clothing?

Headed home for Memorial Day weekend, thinking I will hit up Kohl's and Marshall's!

True Blood is Back!

Vampires are hot. Duh.

True Blood started up again on HBO early in June and I have been holding off watching the new episodes mainly because I wanted to make sure I could give these characters and the plot my undivided attention. The secondary reason is that I have been sucked into the drama known as LOST.

True Blood is amazingly well done. The show is set in the small town of Bon Temps where there are many human and vampire residents. Sookie Stackhouse is a human, who is able to read peoples' thoughts for some unexplained reason, and during the first season we see her fall in love with Bill, a vampire. The show does give vampire lovers a break from the likes of Twilight with some intense fighting and sex scenes. I highly encourage you to catch up if you are out of the loop on this one. Below, for your enjoyment, are some of my favorite quotes from the last two episodes...

Eric - Do you know how to use one of these?

Sookie - I am not that blonde

Eric - "Well I'm not leaving. You are going to invite me in so I can protect you or have passionate primal sex with you. How about both?"
Sookie - "You are not going to distract me by talking nasty"

Terry - 10 reasons why you can trust me with your kids
1. I'm a nurturer. I found a baby armadillo by the side of the road, and I nursed it, and now it sleeps under my bed. And it's name is Felix.
2. I have a diploma from anger management where I learned that talking about your feelings is the manly thing to do

Russell - It's like Armageddon every time someone chips a dessert plate.

Werewolf - Johnson's my best god damn man
Russell - They are all dumber than a box of rocks
Werewolf - Sir that is unfair
Talbot - To boxes? Maybe. or rocks?
And yes, in case you couldn't tell by the last quote, season three has added a pack of vampired blood loving werewolves into the mix! This season should be good!

Stupid AI

American Idol annoys me. Apparently, it currently annoys America, too. From what I hear, the contestants are pretty terrible this season and I can only assume this is why Glee's new time slot has been scheduled to immediately follow this disaster.

I don't care that Glee has been moved, as the power of DVR lets me continue with my life without ever having to miss an episode. What I care about is if a show is placed after some reality crap that involves voting, my show won't necessarily start on time. The DVR is not that smart and begins to record at 9 pm and stops at 10:02 based on the tv guide. Unfortunately for me,the mindless banter ran a little late which pushed back Glee's start time by about 4 minutes. This in turn means that I missed the last 2 minutes of my show. Grrrr. I hope I didn't miss any particularly witty remarks, as this week was full of some great lines. Here are a few of my favorites!

"What you call insanity, I call inspiration. Let me break it down for you. It has been the biggest dream of my career to pay homage to Madonna the woman most responsible for my take no prisoner demeanor and my subconscious tendency to always be desperately looking for someone named Susan" "What would madonna do? Well the answer that question is usually date a younger man" "Girl, don't look at me. The last guy i liked was the mayor of gay-town" "Lindsay Lohan looks like something out of lord of the rings..." "When I pulled my hamstring, I went to a misogynist" "Everything about you screams virgin your as sexy as a cabbage patch kid. It is exhausting to look at you" "You have all the sexuality of one of those pandas down at the zoo that refuse to mate" "Just come out so we can talk, or sing about it"

Chelsea would be proud

I bought $1 martini glasses at the Christmas Tree Shop. Totally love them. All this week I have been making Boston Absolut martinis. (Boston Absolut, splash of ginger ale, and lemon juice) They have been a lovely way to end the evening. It is hard to explain but I get this great feeling drinking out of a classy glass rather than a pint glass. Totally helps mellow me out. So while I was drinking my nightcap, I found the following:

I like to have a martini, Two at the very most. After three I'm under the table, after four I'm under my host. - Dorothy Parker

Love this woman. I saw this quote and needed to know more about her. A quick google brought me to here wikipedia article. She is known for her wit and wisecracks. Awesome. If anyone has any of hers I can read, please give it to me. A woman who has a love for martinis like I do is a great woman in my book.

In my world, this is considered a waste! Look at all the splash out

In response to seeing my new tattoo

In response to me possibly heading out to visit a friend
Friend:

Side Note: This girl graduated from HARVARD undergrad.

Texting about how me missing book club wouldn't be the worst thing considering I have yet to finish the book.
Me: "And I can't use my tattoo as a distraction"
Friend: "I am sure you can make up a dance. haha"
Update: Did not go to book club, did go to casting call for a runway show. More on that later.

I hope these posts do not discourage my friends from talking to me as that would be so sad. Love you all...

This is why I love my friends...

While my professional life has been a bit of a roller coaster lately my friends have stayed a consistent AMAZING. Here are great examples (names have been removed to protect the awesome)

Due to my tattoo had to skip a birthday party. Here was the recap via text:
"last night was fun we ended up going to ____ and at least two people puked if that tells you anything about the night! see you next weekend!"

Conversation with a male friend on gchat Tuesday:

Me: hey do you want to go to the ICA with me on one of the free thursdays to see the fairey exhibit?
Male Friend: that sounds questionable, but as long as you don't tell male friend 2 or 3 I'd go
Me: sure. why does it sound questionable?
Male Friend: the fairy exhibit?
Me: shepard fairey - the guy that did the obama hope water color
Male Friend: haha oh ok. then yes I will go and you can tell my friends

Text Wednesday from female friend after telling her I had a bad day:
"Yikes. good thing it is mardi gras"

Gchat Thursday night with another guy friend:
Friend: You going to the show sat night?
Me: Yup. You?
Friend: heeeell yeah. so i'll see you there. PS...
Me: ok
Friend: we are gonna buy some cheap bras...any chance we can get you to throw one on stage during the last song

Text from Thursday Night from a female friend (former happy hour partner in crime) who is currently in Hawii:
"I was going to call but thought you might be sleeping. They have 3 martini happy hour!"

So yeah. Like I said, my friends are pretty awesome. :)

Totally adore Will Smith

* Love it when an acceptance speech has magic and balancing tricks

* I feel like I am competing against Perez Hilton (he is also live blogging)

* Side note, I feel as if my tattoo isn't even there. Where is the pain? (I will publish the second half of the tattoo adventure tomorrow morning - I am focusing on the Oscar's right now)

* "take Brad Pitt and turn him into a garden gnome" - Will Smith. Pricesless

* I had to reread my mom's letter. I figured I would introduce her to my blog. She told me my photo made me look strung out. thanks mom. I will try and change it tomorrow

* "oh boom goes the dynamite" - Will Smith. I may have to use this expression next time I flub my sentences.

* So it has been a year since my last Oscars, but did they always have presenters present at least two sets of awards each time? Or is this because of the recession?

* The weather thing on Floyd is telling me it is snowing back at the apartment...I hope it is lying to me.

* Slumdog just won for sound mixing. Is M.I.A. going to be preforming her song tonight? I know the Oscar people wanted her to, I am not sure if she agreed or not.

* Ok even Will thinks he has been presenting forever :)

* Slumdog won AGAIN. This guy is not running up to the stage, I assume his acceptance speech will not be him gasping for breath from the jog...
