Recently Blake Shelton released the video for his single Honey Bee which will be apart of his album that drops on July 12th. I have fallen in love with this song and have probably played it every day for the last week and half. Since I can't find a version of the music video to embed, I am going with his performance of the song at the AMC Awards, please enjoy!

Last night, I downloaded his album Loaded: The Best of Blake Shelton and had it playing all day at work. His voice is just so soothing and fun. In the interim, between now and July 12th, I think I will get the Thompson Square album to deal with my country cravings. My friend sent me the link to their song AreYou Going to Kiss Me or Not and I found it rather catchy and pretty awesome. Looks like this might be a country kind of summer!
Amazon Student: $0.99 Today Only -- Lady Gaga's New Album
Let's just say that it took of all .000001 seconds for me to click the purchase button. Amazon Prime is my favorite thing in the world, and letting me get the Gaga CD on the release day for less than a dollar is amazing.
I am also digging the Amazon Cloud. Any time you download music, it will get stored on the cloud first, and then you can download it to you computer. Since I have downloaded the Amazon Mp3 app on my Android, I can now jam out to this stuff on my phone! I was able to listen to Born This Way on my commute to work, which was a God send, as it was commencement, which meant that I had to park off campus in a field...a very muddy field. Gaga helped me power through the inconvenience.
UPDATE: Apparently I had gotten a coupon code in recent months and added it to my account, as I just got my "bill" and it shows that I had a discount of .99 making my total due $0!!!
Lady Gaga showed up in an egg - so no major fashion statement on the red carpet. Boo. She had the first performance slot (beyond the opening number) and so I figured that there would be glitter and glam. She had so much time to get ready as she gave no interviews. Nope. It was like watching Madonna doing Express Yourself (yeah, everyone is saying this, I know). Double boo.
Thank you Cee Lo for bringing the crazy back to the Grammys. It looks like Muppets are very in right now. They are slotted to be guest judges on Top Chef this week, and Cookie Monster has been lobbying for a host spot on SNL.
I will say, while I love them, Gwenny should have reconsidered those heels. She can barely walk in them, let alone move. The version she did on Glee was particularly fun because she was able to spin and dance around. I was a little bummed that she wasn't able to have more fun this time, I mean who wouldn't want to dance with the puppets! Loved the pink earrings. The set was crazy fun, and it wouldn't make any sense to compete with Cee Lo's parrot outfit. But the little splash of color helped out the all black.
The Black Eyed Peas really put on a train-wreck of a half-time show. Their people need to send Christina Aguilera some flowers for messing up the National Anthem, as that bit of idiocy overshadowed a major performance bomb.
While I was surfing the internet for general reactions to the Superbowl in all its glory, commercials, half-time, opening, game-play, I came across the most shocking piece of information.
Did you know that Fergie started out as Stacy on Kids Incorporated????? I used to love that show. I still remember the opening credits where the stars jump up and become a letter of "KIDS". I found a montage of Stacy Ferguson transforming from a 80s child tv star to the lady of the Black Eyed Peas.
Finally, to set the record straight, there will only ever be one "Fergie" in my heart. And she is a royal redhead whose weight was often in the spotlight.
I remember the first time I heard this song I was dishdogging it for the catering company I worked at during the summer. We were back at the shop late at night washing up all the pots and knives. Scalding water is much more bearable if you are also listening to a rad mix-cd. Intertwined with the latest summer jams, crazy techno and classic songs was Dominick the Donkey. The 12 Days of Christmas is by no means a favorite Christmas carol of mine. It takes about three and a half minutes to sing, which gets exhausting, and the tune doesn't make me want to dance around the tree. Imagine getting all those gifts! Personally, I don't have the space for the 50 extra people in my apartment (12 drummers drumming, 11 pipers piping, 10 lords a-leaping, 9 ladies dancing and 8 maids a-milking) and my lease only allows for 1 cat, not 23 birds (partridge, 2 turtle doves, 3 french hens, 4 calling birds, 6 geese a-laying, 7 swans a-swimming).
Additionally, I would feel bad for my true love as he would have to spend $23,439.38 to purchase the final round of the song. A group of people have been tracking the cost of the gifts since 1984 and just so you know, total costs have increased 9.2% since last year. Eeeep.
I went to see if I could find an enjoyable version of the song on youtube, and well, this is amazing. There is a gem of a moment around 1:30, I hope you enjoy it!

Sometimes a parody is great. Sometimes it isn't. Before we had "No Scrubs" (great) that was followed by "No Pigeons" (bad). Just last week Cee Lo put out a song entitled "F*ck You", which I thought was catchy as hell and was tempted to blog about it. But when I saw the video it already had well over 2 million hits. Today, I saw a post about a parody version. Loved it, and wanted to let you love it too!

To be honest, I don't know if I would love these songs if they had traditional music videos associated with them. It makes for a great sing-a-long video. :)
The World Cup is coming to an end. The USA is out and there are fewer teams that I care about still in the tournament. Oh wait, did I say teams? I meant hot Europeans. The only one that I know of still playing is Torres from Spain. I guess I could try and do some research about the others still in it to win it, but, like I said, my interest is beginning to dwindle.
I think World Cup Fever is breaking now. For the first few weeks I was streaming the games all day on one of my computers, now I may catch a bit here or there. Often, I forget the games are even on. I think part of my disinterest is related to those damn horns.
The fever that I am still suffering from is an affliction that many a tween girls are painfully dealing with. Yes, Bieber Fever.
If you are scoffing at that statement, well, I dare you to watch/listen to Baby and not want to move around.
Ok, I have to admit this song sounds much better when I am playing flip cup at the bar after my kickball game. Nothing beats a Bieber dance party, except of course a Lady Gaga or Beyonce one. :)
Someone out there in the great interwebs had the genius to match up Lady Gaga's Bad Romance with a the dance sequence to the Seize the Day (Chorale) from Newsies. If you are unfamiliar with Newsies, shame on you. Go out and rent it. It was quite the movie back in 1992 and features a young Christian Bale!

This video is beyond words. I happened to keep E! going after the Chelsea Lately show and got to see the new Telephone video featuring Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Honestly, if videos were always made like this I think Mtv would put music television back in their logo and people would just sit and watch. The colors and costumes are to die for. And the storyline is ridiculous but hysterical. You have to give this video a chance! I have included some screen shots below as a preview :)
Loved the opening with the title "Prison for Bitches". The costume that Lady Gaga has for her prison striped jump suit is pretty amazing. I think it does what she had hoped that green Mickey Mouse ear-like shoulder leotard was supposed to do at the Grammy's.
The cigarette sunglasses are a nice accessory. If smoking wasn't so bad for you, and it didn't irriatate my eyes, I would be tempted to get a pair myself. (kidding kidding)
Of course, the video would not be complete without classic Gaga headpieces. Loving the hair receiver that doubles as a pirate eye patch.
I would also love to know where inmates get to shop because these shoes are calling my name. I believe there is still some room in my third closet for a few more pairs of shoes. If a prison bitch can survive in the joint in shoes like that, I certainly can walk around the bar, right?
And yes, I realize I don't have pictures of Beyonce in this post, but I like Gaga better. The dance sequence where they wear patriotic costumes is amazing, but the frames go by so fast that it is hard to get a screenshot of the both of them that is half way decent. This was the best I could do.
Gossip blogs are letting us know that Katy Perry is engaged to Russel Brand. Of course, her engagement announcement coincides with her cover for Glamour magazine. Glamour must be totally psyched. While I am mildly interested in knowing at this couple actually is for realsies, or as real as celebrity relationships go, I am way more interested in the this dress.
I know, I know, the dress is a little intense. But that is what I love about it. The shape of the dress calls out to me. The tightly fit top with some serious volume in the booty area are the characteristics I look for in party dresses. Had I seen the dress on a hanger in the store, I might have shied away from trying it on - maybe - ok, honestly, I would have tried it on in a heartbeat. However, had I seen it in the store, I know I wouldn't have thought to add the belt. The belt totally makes the dress's allure go up a step. Even with all of the elements that are already present, the blue leopard print with the crazy ruffle skirt, the added accessory actually makes the dress feel less crazy for me. I can't explain it, but I know I want it.
Today was totally an ordinary day. Nothing particularly exciting happened. But for some reason I had an urge to dance. I think my need dates back to Saturday night. A friend of mine had her birthday celebration and in the invite there was mention of dancing. I had a phenomenal hot pink dress (complete with a tutu skirt) and HIGH heels. Totally ready to dance. The rain kind of put a damper on the plan as the bar didn't get crowded enough for the dance floor to pick up before I left. Then Sunday I did a little abc.go.com tv watching trying to let my body recover from the drinking. (For some reason "classy" beer likes make me hungover, it is kind of a pain)
As you may have heard, Ugly Betty has been banished to the least desirable time slot - Friday evenings! I figured I should watch episodes to see if I feel like I can handle yet another show on the DVR. Safe to say I can. One of the episodes features Betty having to find a date to a work party and in the end decides to attend by herself. Of course the final scene is of her dancing to Dancing with myself which is one of my favorite dance songs. I used to have to take the bus to work, I would often listen to it and dance on the corner. Those mornings I got a lot of smiles.
In addition to hearing that song on Sunday, I had pandora playing on my computer this afternoon and You can't stop the beat came on from Hairspray. If that isn't a catchy song is, I don't know what is. I mean

With all this music bubbling up inside of me, I basically had to let loose. On the way home from the grocery store I 100% started to dance up the street. Arms flying, hips swaying, some hopping and possibly some head bobbing. One guy in his car at red light yelled out "hey girl, you look happy!" I had to reply "I am". There was just so much energy in my body. I did race back to the apartment and had a one person dance party to the 10 minute movie version of You can't stop the beat. Without my grocery bag on my shoulder I definitely had more free range of movement so hair flips and body waves were just all over my living room. I am thankful for my shag rug now for two reasons. It feels good on my feet, but it also absorbs the shock of me dancing and hopping around up here.
Yeah, I can't end this post without including the Glee version of Dancing with myself.
Today was a day for dancing. Therefore, today was a good day. I might just need to dance myself to bed now.
Part of my weekend involved listening to live bands. Thursday night The New Surreal was playing at Uncle Mike's. I sadly just missed them. They are awesome. I have seen them play in Providence, my friend dates the guitarist... But really check out their myspace! I can't really review them right now as it's been awhile, but I'm sure if my bus had been 2o minutes faster and the stupid metro machine didn't give me a hard time it would have been awesome.
After they packed up I saw this kid named Clayton Senne play. He is now located in Florida but originally from Kansas. I enjoyed him a lot. At the time I was convinced he sounded like Ben, but now that I am not drinking I realize he does not at all. But I am pretty sure his speaking voice sounded similar. He plays keyboard and it is just him up on the stage. It was a great set to listen to while we all unwound from a day at the office. The waitresses at Uncle Mike's have to dress in costumes! They were really great girls and we totally chatted about different dress-up ideas. One was a slutty ghostbuster recently and was reprimanded for it, which seems ridiculous based on the idea that what they were wearing that night was acceptable. I am not one for "slutty [insert occupation]" costumes, but I would have liked to see/steal that one.
Saturday night we went to the National Underground to see a friend of friend play in Comic Tales of Tragic Heartbreak. The girl who was on before them was a folkishhippish singer. Her voice was pretty sweet and she was later pulled in to do an impromptu duet with the lead singer of Comic Tales. She skat for a while in the duet, I have never seen someone do that before, and I am pretty sure what I heard was skill. She totally was able to feel the beat and rhythm of the music. The singer of Comic Tales was a total ham and would go around dancing with girls in the bar and play his trumpet where ever. At one point he came over to us and had me push the keys while he played. While you can go ahead and listen to the music that they put up on their sites, I have to say that they are way better live. The lyrics are hysterical but the main reason we all liked it was because he was really about getting us involved and dancing.
The other night I got a phone call from a friend because she wanted to let me know that she just heard the new Katy Perry single "Waking up in Vegas" and while she was listening to the lyrics realized that the song made her think of me. She then began to quote some of the lines to help illustrate her point. These included but were not limited to "we need ataxi because you're hung-over and I'm broke" and "you lost the motel key". I laughed, and said I could see how she would equate the two of us together. I then went into my iPod and listen to the song myself. Personally, I feel the line that most relates to me would be "Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes, now/That's what you get for waking up in Vegas" - but feel free to substitute "my bed" for Vegas. :P

Getting Rick Roll'd has become a cultural term. The first instance of rickrolling occured in May 2007, which is shocking to me - I thought it was something that has been going on for longer - granted my source for this is wikipedia.org. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade in 2008 got rick roll'd :P

Two of my Pandora radio stations are "Womanizer" and "Maneater". Strangely enough, Womanizer radio station plays Maneater more than Maneater does. It also loves to play stuff by Katy Perry - go figure.
I actually adore Womanizer. It is one of my favorite songs to dance to. We use it at the end of JazzFunk. It just has such a great beat for jazz hands, body rolls, and HAIR FLIPS.

Thanks to my impulse to click I "found" a new album by K-OS. I opened up the site and let the music play. Honestly, I think it may have been on loop for well over an hour and it didn't get old. In fact, the only reason I switched to Pandora was because I felt maybe someone else in the office could hear it and they were getting irritated with the repeating
Thanks to wikipedia, I have since learned that this individual is named Kevin Brereton and he is Canadian. "K-OS" is pronounced "chaos" and is an acronym for "knowledge of self" - deep man.
