Three girls who have less of a reason to be famous than Kim...

For the last few weeks I have seen advertisements for "Pretty Wild". All I ever understood was that there were three sisters that were supposedly famous and got a tv show for it. I never had the attention span to figure out their back story, after all, it took me years to be able to figure out why we care about the Kardashians. Thankfully, because this show is on E!, Chelsea Handler had the three girls on Chelsea Lately.

I learned that Alexis was in the Bling Ring (aka Burglary Bunch). In case you have forgotten what this pop-culture reference is, the Bling Ring was a group of over privileged adolescence who thought there was nothing better to do with their time than to burgal homes of young Holywood (think Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, etc) in 2008 and 2009. If you haven't heard this girl talk yet, trust me on this one, she was in no way the brains behind the operation. When asked what she was doing with her time right now, the answer was not school even thought she is 19, but instead she a Pilates, hip hop, pole dancing instructor. The clips let us know that there is a pole in the house so that she can keep up her skills.

What these three girls go onto explain to Chelsea is that they are followed because they follow The Secret. The Secret is the philosophy of the Church of Religious Science. Basically you think about what you want, it will happen. The example that they gave was that they wanted to be on tv and then E! offered them one. Case closed.

I said before I would never give in and watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and have since become a fan if marathons are on E!. But I am very VERY certain that even I cannot be sucked into the story of three sisters who pole dance and do playboy (the 20 year old was a Cyber Girl).

Death comes in Threes

If Farrah Fawcett wasn't enough at 5 pm I received a cnn breaking news story that Michael Jackson suffered from Cardiac Arrest. 35 minutes later on Twitter a friend had tweeted RIP MJ but I could not confirm the news anywhere. I had to run a few errand before a game night at a friend's house and stopped at the Parking Office to grab my new parking sticker - FYI prices went up to $15 AND more streets in Somerville will require them in the coming months.

The line is always long there but it was interesting to see that everyone was on their iPhones and whatnots checking the news to see if he did in fact pass away yet. I received a text from a friend confirming his death just before I reached the counter. Within a very short period we have lost Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and the king of pop MJ. Death really does come in threes.

Given that everyone is doing MJ Tribuits here are my two favorites:

ABC from when he was still small and cute and in the Jackson Five

And then Beat It. Couldn't get an version to embed. But I still know this whole dance from my high school senior float. :)

It is about damn time

Sonic commercials have been playing Nation Wide for the last few years...the closest Sonic to New England was in Pennsylvania. Not exactly making it easy for New Englanders to stop by for the happy hour drink specials from 2-4 that they advertise to have each day.

Many of my friends and I have jumped the chance to eat at a Sonic whenever we are in the South purely to find out if the chain is any good. Those commercials make you wonder! Good job to the advertising agency to keeping Sonic in our minds when it isn't even located in our state... We have all agreed that it is a step up from the usual set of fast food restaurants - I realize restaurants may not be the best term but I can't think of a more appropriate way to describe Burger King, McDonalds, Jack In the Box, etc - and would totally go back given the opportunity.

Well it appears that Sonic has decided it is time to break into our area! There will be one in Peabody, MA and they plan to break ground in June! This posting states that Senior Vice President of Business Planning Ritger "expects the first Sonic will draw consumers from far and wide in New England who are eager to check out the new arrival."

Clearly he doesn't understand RI and will hopefully learn that if he wants any of lil' Rhody's citizens to eat Sonic he will have to build a few within state lines. But, if someone in the area wants to check this place out, I am more than happy to ride shot gun!

Jesse Spano I feel your pain!

It is a classic clip. Everyone in my generation knows it and quotes it. The Jesse Spano caffeine pill freak-out. "No time! There's never anytime! I don't have time to study. I'll never get into Stanford..."

Lately, I feel like there is no time in my life -- especially at work. I cannot wait to get some time to just relax. Today I skipped dance class in the hopes that lounging around the house would help things. Just so you know, I am feeling a little more centered, maybe I can even find some time to read... But I'm not holding my breath.

Wonderwho?

Each week at JazzFunk we add onto the choreography from the week before. This week there was a point where we were to bend our arms at our elbows and hold our fists out in front of our faces. This pose made me laugh as I felt like I looked like Wonder Woman:

One of my other classmates agreed that it did make her think of old superhero cartoons. But for her, it was something she was associating with the Wonder Twins. Now, there was a wide range of ages in this room, and I was probably the youngest one there. Yet, I was the only other person besides the woman who made the reference and our instructor that knew who the Wonder Twins were. The twins were apart of the Super Friends cartoon series in the early 90s, and the only reason I know who they are is because their ridiculous powers.

When they touch rings and say "Wonder Twin Powers Activate" the female twin will state what animal she wants to transform into and the male will transform into a form of water. Yes, you read that correctly, water. If they have to travel somewhere, she will often transform into a bird and he a bucket of water. Cartoons really were something special when I was a child. :) I found an episode of the Super Friends on youtube to illustrate their powers - and while watching it, I learned that the girl can't swim! That just seems silly...maybe it was that as a snake she couldn't swim...? Who knows.

Check out the change around the 5:20 mark:

I know you are hooked, so here is the second half...

oh man, there is one more part!!! I love the way Wonder Woman's Invisible Plane is drawn. The neon white outline is necessary, I mean seeing her fly around without it would make her look silly.
