Did you think I forgot about you? Naay

Last night I killed some time at Forever 21 with a friend prior to heading over to Happy Hour. It has probably been about 10 years since the last time I stepped in a Forever 21, the store has always just rubbed me the wrong way. Between the decor and the clothes that fall apart, I just didn't get it. Now, I (kinda) do.

Everything I browsed through was under $10. Shirts, skirts, and jewelry, you name it! Bras! There, I named something else, they were $6.50.

As I walked around trying my best to stay away from temptation, I then wandered in the accessories section. Most people know I have a soft spot for owls (see Owls are so in!) but in all reality, I love most animal inspired jewelry. When I saw this horse ring, I had to snag it. The ring was only $3.80! How do you say no to that???

For just a brief second, I had buyers remorse. Who needs such a 3-dimensional horse ring? Then I remembered, I do. Even though it is a little on the big side, I am very pleased and opted to incorporate it into my look today.

Animal Prints Go!

Just got two new pairs of shoes. One pair is for work, the other for fun. Of course I would rather blog about the fun pair. As you can see I now own some zebra printed heels, and not only do they have an awesome animal print, but there is some awesome lace-up detailing on the back. They aren't as tall as I prefer, however, they aren't too bad. I can't wait to sport them out and about the city. If only I had a night that wasn't devoted to school, work, homework, or kickball.

OMG best day ever

Four reasons today is AWESOME.

1. Super cute baby animals. There are tapirs, hyenas, polar bears, monkeys, pandas, and elephants. There were 89 of these pictures before I wonder where some of them went. There was a great miniature turtle he was small enough to stand on a person's finger!

2. First episode of Project Runway tonight at 9 pm. It is probably the classiest reality show that I watch. The only reason I even knew the show was going to start today was because I might have gotten sucked into "You're cut off" and there was an ad for the season premiere. As much as last season sucked and was positively boring, I will give the show one more chance. That was the lost season, we all knew it would bomb...

3. The hairy chests of Chuck and Dan. Poor Nate, he just can't deliver the goods. I have been arguing with a teammate about whether females like hairy men and he refuses to believe me we like it. Don't tell me these guys don't look good.

4. Season premiere of The Jersey Shore. As much as I have said over and over that I will not support this show and am completely over these numbnuts, I just can't stay away. I hope someone gets in a fight and another brings home a grenade.

5. On a personal note, I made a martini for the first time in a week. Yummy.

Pink and Smiles? Yes Please

This came from http://dailysquee.com/. He is cute, pink, and smiles. Of course I want him. I think he would be very happy living in my apartment with me. The site calls him a mudkip. When I google this, I come up with a bunch of sites that refer to Pokemon. So this makes me think that this image is not real - which saddens me, just a bit.

Life gives you lemons, give them to a squirrel. Speaking of squirrels yesterday I had a small run in with one. He wouldn't get out of my way when I was trying to walk into a building. We had a small awkward stand-off.

"High as a kite" wallabies blamed for crop circles
If poppy plants are there for the snacking, can you blame these guys? Officials say that there have been many documented cases of wildlife feeding on the plants and subsequently getting high. They run in circles creating what appears to be crop circles. :)

Tigers say 'Bye, mom' to dog that raised them
A dog raised some tiger cubs, who are now too big to play with their "mom" and "sister". The tigers had one last hurrah with their mom. It's cute.

Screw puppies, I want one of these!

Say hello to Honduran White Bats. They are only 37-47 mm long which is roughly 1.45 - 1.85 inches (or so the online converter tells me).

They kind of remind me of puffballs with pig faces.

They also live in leaf tents.

What was 4.4 lbs and had razor sharp claws?

That would be the smallest known North American dinosaur - Hesperonychus elizabethae. I was looking for more information regarding the ridiculous AIG bonuses that I got a CNN breaking news email about earlier.

I am sure you heard that 73 people received +$1 million bonuses - 11 of these people no longer work for AIG. I don't care if these bonuses were promised before shit hit the fan. I am pretty sure many Americans are thankful if they are still employed and are well awared of the fact that bonuses are no longer coming to them. Furthermore, I know of a few individuals who, along with their coworkers, opted to reduce their pay to 80% even though their hours did not change in the hopes to prevent layoffs. I mean really - how in the world do these AIG people believe they can rationalize the bonuses to the average American. ARG. I would love to kick one of these people.

But back to the dinosaur. "It's basically a predator of small things". I would think a dinosaur that only weighs 4.4 pounds would only eat small things, but I am no paleontologist

I Want One

This is a post I started last week and never got around to finishing it. Interestingly enough the topic came up in conversation this weekend and my dreams were subsequently popped...


I don't know what the allure is, but lately I have really wanted a pet hedgehog. In all reality I WANT a dog. Sadly, I am not responsible enough, nor do I have a proper home, to care for a puppy of my own so I must wait. I don't like cats. So based on all these awwww-inspiring pics from cuteoverload hedgehogs seemed to be a good substitute. I mean, there are great stories about them...like the baby hogs that thought a cleaning brush was their mom!!

But now I learn that these guys are not so much fun. While hanging out this weekend, I was informed that these guys are not so pleasant. And that they screech when they get mad.

So bummer. This post is more of a FYI for you guys. Apparently hedgehogs are only cute online, in real life they are a pain in the butt. Go figure.

Vandels Outside Pooh's Home

There is a tree that I pass on the way to work every day. At the base there is a stone path that leads up to it. At the end of the path there is a small red door with a shingled awning. The home is labeled "Pooh". Recently the entrance to Pooh's home was vandalized. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen. Usually the door gets ripped off. This time it was the awning. It really does make my day start off on the wrong foot. I mean really, what did Pooh do to you?

Being the dork that I am, I did begin to think that the door on this tree is a bit small for Pooh. He was a bit of a pudgy dude, and there is no way his friends would be able to fit inside. Then again, I don't think there were many stories where he had people in his house. He went to Rabbit's (and got stuck) and went to Owl's, but the only one I can really remember going inside Pooh's was Piglet. I could easily be wrong on this.


After going through these scenarios I realized that Pooh is a honey-bear. A honey-bear is another name for a Kinkajou, and a Kinkajou could definately fit through the door at the base of this tree. Now a Kinkajou looks nothing like the image we all hold in our heads of Winnie the Pooh, but he is still very cute. (I did a report on them when I was in 6th grade - we were studying rainforests at the time)

I really hope someone fixes Pooh's home this week. It would really make the work week easier for me.

Future Mascot?

Kickball season is coming up. Super excited. We were talking about finding sponsors, help us foot the bill to Vegas in the fall. While I am no closer to finding a backer, I have definitely found our future mascot. As much as I love Benny the pink octopus, I think he would be willing to step down to give way to the PINK DOLPHIN that was seen in a inland lake in Louisiana.

As I have learned, pink dolphins are actually albino dolphins but instead of white he is pink! So cool.

East Coast West Coast Weather Rodents

Today is Groundhog's Day and there seems to be some debate on the validity of the groundhog...

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow which means six more weeks of winter.

Staten Island Chuck disagrees and says that spring is around the corner.

But the tie was broken by Chriki the Hedgehog from Oregan when she agreed with Phil.

Out of the three I'm siding with the New Yorker. I would really like the winter to end soon...
