My kickball team started just where we left off...winning! It was nice coming out of the season opener with a W, but I not banking on an undefeated season. That is just not how we roll. We are a fun team, not an intense team, and we like to keep our intensity in check until playoffs. Afterall, there are BBQs to be had!
I reffed the early game with a fellow teammate. Since we had to get to the field for the 8:15 game, we were volunteered to represent our captain at the captain's meeting that started at 8. The group was informed that there were a few changes in the rules, most of these changes were to attempt to discourage competition and encourage socialization and well...drinking. AWESOME.
Last year, I don't think we ever had fewer than 16 people show up to a game, we always had enough to play. Last night, we were quite concerned that we were going to have to forfeit due to lack of players. Fortunately most showed, even our new mascot. Everyone got to kick a few times I got on base once. We had a few slips here and there but we just need to get into our groove.
The bar was just as I remembered. It may have taken a few rounds, but our flipping skills returned to phenomenal! Spontaneous dance parties may have occurred as well....
This is only week one and I cannot wait to see how the season continues. We were a little low on flair - only 3 tutus and some socks showed up - but it seemed that everyone is ready to look absolutely ridiculous next week.
